Hi there,
It's been a while! It really has been quite the year so far and I wanted the chance to share all of our news but first of all, as promised, a little bit of...
Joy.
3 little letters. Often forgotten. But, ultimately, one of our greatest drivers.
I was coaching a team yesterday. The workshop was Goal Setting and Feedback. When we talked about their career goals, as ever, the driver was the next promotion, the next title and, most importantly, the next salary increase. Every single one of them linked to a financial outcome. And, of course, at no point was there a discussion around more pleasure being a success metric.
Look, I’m not naive, money is a concern right now for so many of us. But, as a driver, it’s so intangible in what it actually brings us. I think we can all think of cases when additional funds hasn’t actually made life any better.
So, how about we all aim for a bit more joy? Surely, that’s what we all want more money for anyway?
- Joy is a distinct feeling
- Joy changes lives
- Joy makes things better
And, let’s be clear, it also makes us more engaged and more productive by, quite simply, loving what we do more.
So… rather than some kind of commercial incentive, how about you change your team’s targets to a little bit more joy? But, practically, how do you do that?
- Reward joyful behaviour
- Create moments when the team can have more joy
- Get the team to share their personal joys
- Do a joy audit at the end of every week
- Ask each team member to establish their values and then encourage them to bring more joy into their roles
So, putting my money where my mouth is, what’s bringing me joy right now?
1. PUSH’s New Positioning
I can’t lie, 2023 was a YEAR. We have restructured, rebuilt and re-positioned.
From the research that we conducted at the back end of 2022, we uncovered that there was a big challenge facing many of our organisations: Put simply, managers needed more upskilling and support. Through absolutely no fault of their own, they were locked into doing, not leading. And, it was creating poor communication, less engagement and a huge hit to performance. What was needed was a totally new approach to management training.
Steph (PUSH’s in-house psychotherapist) and I have worked hard to create and refine three proprietary programmes. These combine psychotherapy and neuro-leadership coaching learning with groups and 1-2-1 management coaching sessions.
These are completely unique programmes in the market, delivered by both Steph and me.
Here’s a bit more detail - I would love the chance to tell you about the difference they have already made with some of our clients.
2. My First TikTok
Finally. It’s here and, I promise, I will include these little videos to share with your teams in every single newsletter. I hope you love them and, if there’s anything you’d like me to cover in a video, hit me up. I would love to help!
Watch the full video here.
3. 1-2-1 Coaching
Genuinely, my favourite part of my role. There is nothing I love more than understanding better the challenges our managers are facing, so we can tailor our content to support it and deliver workplace coaching solutions directly. Seeing someone’s brain click and face light up when they see things in another way will simply never fail to change my day.
Today I start my training as a psychotherapist. So, expect to see that education further threaded through everything we do. Creating change and feeling different is an inside job. So, we promise that all of our training will develop your team’s consciousness.
Anyway, enough of my musings but, to end, let me assure you that working with you all and changing thinking and lives will always be our greatest joy.
Thank you for being part of it.
